Blue Static, Mixed Media on canvas, 2026 

I build each canvas as a living record of addition and subtraction—layering thick swathes of modeling paste and vibrant turquoise acrylic, then overlaying whispers of rose, grey and white with soft pastels. Instead of concealing what came before, I invite the surface to speak through itself: scraping back areas of wet and dry paint with palette knives, abrasively sanded patches and careful sgraffito reveal the ghost-marks of earlier gestures.

That tension between build-up and erosion echoes how we carry memories: we coat over moments, yet small fragments—fading dreams, half-formed emotions—always peek through, shimmering against the dominant field. Here, the expansive teal holds a quiet calm, even as the raw grid of textured marks pulses with restlessness. Each exposed scrap of color becomes a fragment of an inner narrative, a sliver of what was felt, obscured or forgotten.

Ultimately, this painting asks viewers to linger, to notice the interplay between surface and depth, concealment and revelation. It’s an invitation to reflect on the layers you carry, and to find beauty in the process of uncovering what lies beneath.
